Queensland State Archives Issues Disposal Freeze on Records
Jun 5, 2018 | Records Management
Queensland State Archives has issued a government wide disposal freeze on records that are relevant to, or may become relevant to, an allegation of child sexual abuse. The disposal freeze was issued in response to recommendations made by the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.
The freeze applies to all Queensland public authorities and their contractors/service providers who create, keep or manage records on behalf of the government agency.
Any records covered by this disposal freeze in an authorised retention and disposal schedule must not be destroyed until the freeze is revoked, which will remain in force until further notice.
Additionally, all agencies are required to notify Queensland State Archives of the actions they have taken to implement this disposal freeze by 27 July 2018.
For more information visit the Queensland Government’s website here. If you would like assistance implementing this change to your retention and disposal schedules, please get in touch with our team.
